Hi guys,
As some of you may know, I recently purchased a little silver arowana (3.5").
The only time I see him in the light and not in the shade at the back is when I feed him. Does this mean its just timid or the light is too strong?

Thanks

maybe the bright lights are stressing your aro

What should I do?
I've heard if arowanas stay out of the light too long, any light will stress them. true?

yeah dont turn on light to much

what would be a good schedule for the lights? I don't know how much to have it on.

mine used to be kind of afraid of light, but i started feeding him with the lights on. now, whenever the light is switched on, he's out and about expecting to be fed. it's like pavilov's dog . . . all of my fish are trained to light and when i turn it on, they come out searching for food.

Hmm. My aro is just shy I think. I've been sitting still on my bed for a while so I didn't scare him and he came out to investigate the overflow and play the current from the return pump. I think it may just be afraid of people.

Would the light have any health effects on the fish if it was too strong?

i dont think there is any health effect

Ok. Maybe I'll add a few floating plants.

I have brown tinted glass on top of the tank which cuts down the light quite a bit. Plus the driftwood, looks like the real Amazon blackwater lol.
