light underneath instead??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've tried it, doesn't look good at all. Particles in the water stand out a lot more.

I appreciate all your comments. If someone tries it, please take a picture. I would like to see them.

I thought about it and probably would recommend to use a small fixture. maybe half the size of the tank? Could also probably try to put thin sand, and have some naked spots in different areas that will shine beams going upwards. Just random thought. :)

when i was setting up my 45 gallon the light from the powerstrip shined through the bottom (no fish or anything added at that point) - looked kinda cool but i have to agree with everybody else it'd probably really mess with their orientation

"rope lights" like what you use during Christmas around your deck might work nice? if you had a very thin layer of rocks and used it with a moon light might look half decent. aslong as its not BRIGHTER then your over head lights i would assume it should be okay

I have 3 tanks stacked and I am using the light from the middle tank to shine into the top tank. It is fine, the fish adjust and no they don't swim sideways or upside down, at least not after a day...My Oscar didn't take to the situation as well as others.

I currently have a heat lamp over the top tank that is much brighter than the botom glow, but this is due to the weather and the locations of the tanks, this is a cold water tank, so the heat lamp is only to see activity... 63* last check.

HMmm bright light underneath some white pool sand? THAT would be cool! My turtle tank has white pool sand.................................................
