Algae growth will happen no matter the color temp, to limit the growth of algae, look to your NPK levels and your photo period. If you keep those in check, the Kelvin rating of your bulb will not matter.
yeah i'm religious with water changes so i don't see algae growth at all but didn't want to encourage it. went with a new 10,000k and an actinic. i like. thanks guys!
