Live rock doesn't require any lighting.

As far as corals go it would depend on which type of corals you plan to keep.
 
just to be on the safe side, at least power compact lighting.. soft corals are the least light needing corals and i wouldn't keep them in less than PC...
 
lighting also depends on gallons, tank depth, and type of lighting.
 
gallons not so much mostly height... a 40 breeder is going to need the same lighting as would a 20 gallon.. and how does lighting depend on type of lighting.. i think that's fairly obvious :D
 
well arent there different types of bulbs? different intensities? thats what i was asking.

there are regular florescents $
power compact (PC) floro $$
T5 floro $$
HO, and VHO floro (high and very high output) $$$
metal halides (w/ or w/o HQI lens) $$$$
LED lighting, a newer and not very understood by myself style of lighting, $$$$$
