thanks for all the help i love this site
any brands i should be looking at? also it has 4 small bulbs that are 50watts each can i get 2 long bulbs instead?

corallife, jbj, off brand , doesnt really matter all last about the same my buddy bought some off brand ones and under light meter they are pretty much the same... what do you mean by 4 small bulbs and 2 long??? just replace what ever bulbs are there... if 4 bulbs are 2 bright take 2 out and keep them as spares for when you need to replace them....

Coralife bulbs don't grow plants that well. The home depot/walmart cheap bulbs for plants and aquariums die only after a couple months. I'd recommend going with the Hagen Life glo 2, as these provide the proper spectrum, and produce good growth rate.
