Lighting help

I want to make my 30gal a planted tank but I really dont know what I am doing. Anywho to make it short I dunno how many watts my light is I already tried looking - its the basic light that comes with the hood. I dont think its enough light for plants so I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good inexpensive light thats good for plants ?

Check out there, I put up a big thing on lighting in that thread. I'd personally start with either a coralife 30" PC 6700K, or if you have enough electrical background, wire up some bowl reflectors, and 2 6500K twist fluorescents from wally world.

i would look at the lighting from ahsupply.com great reflectors. you could also try shop lights or power compact screw in bulbs they sell at walmart.
