ya i get where you are going, but i dont want a planted tank i want java moss floating in my tank, a full co2 system wont be necessary will it?

Yes theoretically but unless you have a cheap way of getting tons of sugar then it's going to end up costing you more than a pressurized co2 system very quickly. Take it from me i tried it on a 150 gallon tank and i figured to prodcue significant amounts of co2 (5-6 bubbles per sec) i needed 6 2 liter bottles (at least) think about how many more bottles you will need on a 220 gallon tank maybe 9 or 10 total. And then think of all the sugar you will have to use it'll end up costing more than the whole pressurized set up within a couple months.

Go pressurized or go home. (that should be the motto of all planted tank enthusiasts)

not at all. just reduce your lighting to take care of your algae problems
 
will adding a small diy thing for fun make a difference cause i think i will enjoy it, but dont want to unless its going to make a differance
