All,

I'm looking at investing into some new lighting for my tank, I currently have some IT, NGT and some peacock bass and stingrays...

Wondering what sort of colour temp bulbs people are using and if they could share some photos to show how they look? I was heading tow3ards 2 x 14000k 54w T5?

Cheers
Sam

Dats show colors better in dimmer light. At least mine do. They don't like bright light. I would go LED. I bought a 48" LED from Beamsworks for about $70. It shows great on a 7 ft tank 30" deep. Then you have the blue moon lights for night. I like watching them with all the lights out. They tend to act differently. Plus if you have nocturnal fish, you will see them more.

Look and see if you have access to the new Maxspect Razor. i have 3 of these amazing led fixtures over my tank. what i ike is how it is programable by % of light you want which is great for fish like rays who dont like intense light. i have mine peak at noon at about 70% only and it looks like nothing youve ever seen before. make your head spin. look it up.

I just bought 2 48-56" beamswork LED lights off of eBay for $100. I would look there they are actually really bright, they're inexpensive, and inexpensive to use. Here's a pic of how mine look.

Man, those are super powerful lights. Way to bright for rays. or dats. Are you sure you don't sell these? LOL

I keep rays and tigers in heavy lit areas and they do great. Why would they need dimmer lights? If they are expose to captive life, why not just let them live and learn? My dats seam to "color" up more in lighting that is ran 24/7 then with 6-8 hours a day. Same with my rays. The rays seam to eat less on schedule of light, then when I keep the lights in 24/7. I can feed my rays at any time of day, and they will hog boss.
