kay so heres the deal. I was at my lfs the other day and i noticed they had these lights that gave off and awesome bright white glow. Iv always just used the bulbs that my lights have came with but i want the ones that i seen at the petstore. I looked at the bulb and it was just a regular flourescent. So my question is does anybody have any ideas what kind of bulbs they use.? im pretty sure it wasnt actinic 50/50, iv used those before and its not what it looked like.

maybe some kind of daylight bulb or something, marine glow?

Probably the best people to answer your question are the people at the LFS. If they say the don't know, have them take out one of the bulbs for you to have a look at.

For freshwater or saltwater tanks? Most use flourescent bulbs but could have been nicer ones such as t5 or something.. I doubt they would spend the money, was probably a type/color of flourescent.. Just ask the LFS.

Power Glo's are indeed pretty nice lights to have. I also like the Life Glo2, well that is until it died on me :irked:

Now I just use the spiral CFL's you get at Wallyworld on my tanks.

like this? the left is yuor standard flor tube 2 years old, the right is a 10,000k
