I have a 55G Cichlid tank that has two 24" stock hoods. The lighting has a really dull yellowish hint. I really like the look of the light on reef tanks and on frontasa tanks. Since there is only one tube per hood I assume I can't use an Actinic bulb (too blue right). What is the best option? I don't like the look of really white light either. I want something that looks literally "cooler."

Hmmm, that might be a really good solution. Let me know how they look.

The recommended replacement time frame is 8-10 months for a new bulb. Stick with an aquarium related bulb so you don't have issues with melting the housing or nasty looking lighting... I did a bulb once from the hardware and it was uuggglllllyyyyy! LOL

another vote for the 18,000K Powerglo. best bulb for color IMO
