Lighting question

Ok I bought a 75 gallon and I have glass covers for it, now I need lights. What do you all reccomend? I wouls love to see some ideas! Something not incredibly expensive, though.

What are the dimensions of your tank? Do you want to make a canopy?

no, i don't want a canopy. It's 48x18x20. I want the raised lighting, where it sits above the glass on stands. I've seen it on a few tanks on here.

T5's are great lamps and there cheap. Give them a try. I love them!

Its all down to what’s in the tank is it planted? Do you just want it to show your fish off?

if you have no plants t5s can give you quite a lot of algae

I agree with stotty, HO T5's can end up giving you a lot of algae, and quick. For just showing off the plants I'd go with a nice 10,000K T8 bulb.

No it's not planted. I would like to show off my fish and also have a nice look for a show aquarium. I really don't want algae though...hmmm...I'm also considering a hanging light from the ceiling of some sort over my tank, but i'm not sure if I want to go that route.
