WHy not elevate Blu LED's? Am i just ignorant? Could i just have a Dual strip with one blue and one regular? but maybe only 24 inches instead of 48?

I just wouldn't elevate LED's due to the lack of penetration. They also don't cast light the same way as T8s. Their light is very direct.

ahhhh, thats why.. so all blu lights are LED? Well prolly not, i got really confused about this.. and still am..but yea.. blue light strip on the tank... for 90 gallons should it be 48" or just a 28" 24" 36" what do they come in and whats the best chhoice...

I have two 36 inch blue actinic coralife fluorescent lights in my 215g tank and the results are purple lighting. I prefer to use something other than white as I believe it relaxes my fish, could just be me, ha. I have used them for many many years on various tanks, I too prefer the blue lighting over purple results but I can't figure out what fluorescent bulb I used to make that happen. I will say I have never ever had any algae problems using just plain actinic lights, however, during the cycling process if you use to much lighting then you welcome the brown diatoms....of course I am guessing because I have never had this bloom before and it's what I narrowed it down to when I got the bloom in my tank, so I cut down the bulbs to two vice four and waiting to see what happens.

Well, what i did with my old community tank is run a 7600k light (Basic Plant light) with an Actinic 03 light, gave the plants all they needed and the actinic brightened up the fish.

For colors, i think reef tanks... Actinic light = vibrant color. we like 20k MH bulbs for amazing color (once its burned in)

Def going to be pairing up a plant light with an Actinic for my 40g breeder.

Oh, also... idk wtf it is, my LFS gets a LOT of japanese stuff in, they have these pink lights... i was surprised, they actually look really, really damn good. Makes the water look crystal clear, but on the bright "White" side, like you're using 10k lights, but it doesnt white wash the colors like 10k.

We use the natural daylight bulbs from home depot and they are marked 9600K. might be a differant brand but we like the price and the result.

Use a dual lamp fixture.
1 Marine Glow, and 1 Aqua Glow.
Suspension is also cool, it gives the "ripple/dappled" effect more than right on the tank top, and disperses "softens" the light more. :) :)
