didn't know where to post this and not getting replies in planted, but does anyone know if power glo bulbs will grow non aquatic plants, specifically my Venus fly traps.

Are they t5 lights? If so, yes. They are used for growing... well.. uhm... yeah. :D

I have T5 grow lights above my pointsettia plants that I bought after x-mas, and they are working nicely. I specifically bought them to house over my indoor Koi tank, but I didn't use them all.

they're actually the T8's

Venus flytraps are easy to grow.Just not this time of year. They need to be covered in mulch, and let go to dormacy right now. When spring rolls around, you can use your powerglo light if you keep it inside.Do not use tap water for them.Distilled or rain water is best.

Actually they just came out of dormancy (I've had them for 2.5 years), and there is not enough daylight available right now and just wanted to know if power glo's will sustain them.

Good deal. That was my problem with them at first.Didn't know about the dormancy thing.I'm pretty sure the power glo's will be fine.Never tried them on anything but aquariums though.

What do you use to water yours? I always heard tap is not good at all for them.Too many minerals.I use distilled.

I use distilled water for them. Considering transplanting them all into one terrarium but for now they are in the ones they came with.

IDK if this will work for venus fly traps but I water all my bonsi/house plants with old tank water. Not the extra dirty stuff but just the "clean" water from a WC and they all love it. As for lights the power glow's work pretty well for me, anything slightly pinkish or more into the white spectrum should be able to grow plants. Its the yellow/green spectrum that plants dont do so well in.

yes they should becareful tho they might burn your plants, if you have enough wattage to grow aquatic plants usually thats too much for non submerged plants.

The lights are a pair of 30 watt bulbs so I don't think it too much, correct me of I'm wrong though.
