yeah my night LED's are so killer
that I put them on all my tanks and
my buddies have them too
I find that pointing them up into the 'day' fixtures
dissipates the light beautifully
into a natural moon light
Can you show a pic, or send me a link to the kind you have??

THESE are the ones I have. They are not the best quality
but they do look great (some of the LEDs went out after a year+)
I have (2) 36" in my 120gal and
(1) 36" and (2) 24" on my 90gal.

If I had to do it again I'd still get the cheap ones, but buy extras.
I'm disposible like that
If you're not, try THESE - with pix

ok, so im buying new bulbs today, which should i get, 2 of the Coralife 50/50 or 2 Power Glow 18,000k???
I'd go with the 18,000Kss. Much nicer light than the 50/50s

Unless your original bulbs are very old and have lost their output power, switching to a different color bulb won't make a huge difference in light output. You will only notice a big difference if changing fixtures, like going from a standard T8/T12 hood to a T5HO fixture. And yes, the 18,000K Power Glo have a nice purple/pinkish/bluish/white tint to them. Hard to describe, and they don't really fit the standard kelvin scale at 18,000k. But they are a great all-around bulb for making all fish colors stand out.

all power-glo is too blue/purple. Mixed with a regular daylight bulb looks better IMO.

Dug up an old pic. This is one Power Glo T5HO bulb over my 210g

For anything with greens/yellows/reds, I'd agree. But for fish with blue/purple colors like a lot of CA/SA cichlids, I like the all PowerGlo look. Just depends what fish you have and what specific look you're after. 10,000k ended up looking too blue for me on my planted tank.
