You won't get much benefit out of it. Actinic will not improve the growth of plants. You are better off without it.
Yes, but it is a waste of electricity. The watts over the tank for a standard 65 W CF bulb would only be 32.5 W of usable light.
True, but compacts are way cheaper to run than flouresants. I bought the compacts with ballasts cheap. If they will work, I think I will stick with them. What you think of 2 65 watt, which would be equal to 65 watts, over a 40 gallon breeder? I know it is not a ton of light, but you think I be ok with some amazons? Thanks.
You would be fine with amazons, but you may encounter some excessive algae growth. The ballasts and fixtures are the same, why not just sell the bulbs? That is what I did with all my cf fixtures, I either sold the 50/50 or traded them for 6700K and 10000K bulbs.
I could, but I doubt anyone is willing to do that! I have 2 extra ballast for 65watt compacts that I could also sell I guess. I also have mood leds I could sell. Thanks.
