Can anyone reccmend a type of light that will brighten up my tank a whole bunch!

Power compacts are nice, they have a new bulb out thats 50/50 ( 6700K / Colormax ) looks great. If you want brighter theres always metal halides which are the brightest per watt, and the most expensive.

What kinda price?

thanks

Just a quaick note, make sure your fish will and can tolerate the bright lighting of the power compavts. I also dont suggest metal hilides on an acrylic tank because the extreme heat will cause the top and lids to warp badly. I know this from experience. The top of the tank that has the cut out openings have warped on my old tank a good 2 inches higher.

So go with compact

I've done acrylic with MH and never had a problem. Just make sure to suspend it a reasonable amount above the lids.

Actually High Output T5 bulbs have a higher lumen rating, and high lux rating than MH, and are much cheaper.

I talked to my lfs for which i love just cause they do stupid things like me such as my there tanks as intense as they can, anyways the guy i talk to said go with 10k compact not as expensive as halgeons calling me back on a price
