would actinic lighting be bad for a freshwater tank i like the look alot more than the normal lighting i use. would it bother the fish? or are these strictly for saltwater setups

I have a 210 PC on my 75. It is 10K/Actinic with separate switches for each. I mostly use the 10K but on occasion I will turn on the actinics, doesn't seem to hurt.

I don't see why it would bother the fish as long as your watts per gallon isn't in the 'sun screen' catagory.

No major harm, other than a little more algae. They do enhance the colors of several fish.

I use 50/50 bulbs on my african tank. The blue/white light combo makes the fish look great! As for algae, if you limit the hours the light is on and don't use excessive intensity of lighting, that should help cut down on any algae issue.
