I've only ever been bitten by my old angelfish years ago, and obviously no skin was broken etc; but she was able to give a good pinch lol. Even my tiger barbs can nip more than I'd expect them to haha.

Can't imagine the bites from bigger cichlids like that though, especially if they can scar; that's some force. I've heard it likened to slamming the door on a finger, which is pretty painful lol

my green texas is with a jack dempsey from the size of 1 in, growing up the JD would chase/ bully the GT and sometimes it got bad but as time went by the GT got much larger than the JD and now he is the aggressor... go figure but theyre in a 75 gallon with 2 seperate hiding places at the other ends of the tank. The GT is around 4 inches and the JD is about 3 inches. No aggression t words me if anything they hide in their houses lol

Yeah. Mine would always hide, and he wasnt too bad with other fish. Then the fire nation attacked...

Jk. But yeah, it was a really abrupt switch, like literally on day he would get scared and hide and when i did maintenance 2 days later, he didnt hide at all. And bit me.

Seems like a keeper to me. I give away my docile centrals. Met my match with a big dovii though it was too much. I've always wanted a nice texas

I know. My parents think ive gone nuts...

The obly complaint is that i am starting to think i have to keep him alone. Its find except that when alone he hides a lot, which means i dont get to see his aggressivness. So i might just have to start sacrificing fish (cough cough Convicts) to him to get the out-and-about/aggressive behavior that i enjoy.

But yeah. Aggression and human interaction is the whole reason i got into and stay with cichlids, even though ive wasted a bazillion dollars on trying to get a combo of them to get along.

But yeah. He is cool. I will try to get a vid of him going after me.
