Lillie pads in aquariums

I have fake Lillie pads in my 260 cichla tank that look killer. I'll have to post a pic later but they look real, no maintenance and I've arranged them in a way that most of them are under water and as if growing up to the surface. I like it.
I'm enjoying the benefit of real plants as they add to filtration. I have kept anubis, crypts and java fern successfully with these fish. I don't know how edible Lily pads are for fish... I know turtles love them.
get a red tiger lotus! made for the aquarium!

I've actually thought about lilies. I have a banana lily, would that eventually be kind of like a real lily?
also a looker. Gosh the more I look at plants the more my mind explodes with possibilities.
The banana plants don't appeal to me, lots of people use them as a lily replacement though.
