So I got this 4 inch shovel nose 6 months ago and he didn't eat much but now he hasn't eaten any thing what are some foods they go crazy for he won't eat hikari massivoro delite. I have had some success feeding him earthworms please help.:help2:

Something is stressing him, e.g., water parameters, tank mates, low DO, lights, etc.

They are not finicky eaters except for dry foods. It is not easy to get them to take pellets and take enough of them. Mine always went for anything fleshy - thawed whole fish and pieces, shrimp, sea foods, etc. Earthworms is a great diet. If not only he has never taken to them well, but now refuses them, something is very wrong, as stated above.

What was it fed before? If only live feeders, that would explain a lot but the time is running out to wean it over onto prepped foods.

He is still pretty small and I have never fed him live fish, but i will try your suggestions thanks!

I meant what was it fed before your ownership... If it was live feeders, then this may explain its lackluster feeding...

5" LSN can easily and with gusto put away half a dozen of average-size feeder guppies or rosey reds, etc. even a small goldfish too.

I got him to eat some worms and shrimp last night. I just touched to food to his barb al and he gobbled it up.

I know this thread is old but I have the same problem my Lima only eats live fish I have tried dropping chunks of shrimp/crawfish right In front of him he won't touch it any advice??
