I see.. how long usually does it take for a shovelnose to get accustomed to its tank? Mine is still not moving..

I try to leave it shrimp but it just sinks to floor nd i find it there the next day untouched..

It took mine about a week to settle in. Now he spends the day nose down along an intake tube. I feed in the evening shortly before shutting lights out and that starts him swimming. In the morning he is back at his tube with a full belly.

You may not get a lot of activity from this fish. It really has no reason to move. It is waiting to see something move in front of it. Try putting a small live earthworm underneath its nose. Your fish does not look thin. Be patient and allow the fish to settle in. Sometimes it takes a week, sometimes a month. If you are really wondering if it moves, throw in half a dozen rosy reds right after you turn out the lights and check in the morning. Regardless, this is an ambush hunter and will remain still for much of the time.

I see... I was hoping to be a little more active hehe... Im just wasting shrimp right now trying to feed it

be patient, lima are very cautious and are spooked easily. Wrap your light with electrical tape in a candy cane pattern and this will decrease the light. Get another lima, they do much better in pairs or trios IMO

But if i get pairs or trios, wont the bigger limas eat the smaller limas? Do these breed by any chance?

Well, I switched the sides of the tank for the lima shovelnose / dempseys.. so now the lima shovelnose gets the flow from the output part of the filter and the dempseys get the slow moving waters.. it seems to move more often now. I put in 7 guppies last night and now they are all gone.. inside the shovelnoses' belly ;D I think i still have to introduce him to shrimp because he doesnt accept it.. i tried to hand feed it by wiggling the shrimp at the surface of the water but it didn't even recognize it.

Where can I get Worms?
