Hi all. Just picked up these 2 lovely little 3 inch hybrids. I saw them in the shop a while ago so decided to try and do some research on them. I've kept Lima Shovelnose before and currently have 1 (stunted due to previous owners tank size). I also have a decent knowledge of TSN but have never kept one due to the size potential. But when I went to do some research on them I couldn't find anything at all! The only information I found was from Spud at Urmston Aquatics (Manchester Fins on yt) where in his video showing he had some in stock he said he thinks they might get 24"-30". When I picked these up from a more local shop the guy there was told around 18". But that is the only info I have so far. If anyone else has more info please let me know!
Regardless I thought id pick up these 2 as a bit of a research project and see what they look like at a big size, how big they get and how quickly they grow ect ect. Plan is to house them as long as I can. Biggest tank I can provide is an 8x4x3 which I will be getting towards the end of the year or the start of next year, so if they put grow that tank then they will be moved on to someone more capable of giving them a proper size home. I will be updating on what I find and hopefully this will be a bit of information for anyone looking to buy them like I was!
I will attach some better photos when I can get them. As they've only been in the tank about an hour they're still very skittish.
Cheers, Harley
