Good to see a case where a second one makes such a favorable difference. From my experience and that of others, I usually recommend at least half a dozen if one aims to have a closer to ideal environment.

Sexing? Not that I know of. I hope someone who knows will chime in. The same data/care sheet linked above says in the "Sexing" box - "Unknown".

They do do better in groups, but they do well as in induvidual in my expierience. I have one, bought it for about 15$ at 5" or so. Had him like 8 months or so and he is up to 9" and feeding on hikari sinking carnivore pellets. Is a great and beautiful fish. BTW very hard to sex visually and I have not heard of a reliable way.

Yeah Im thinking of picking up a couple more and I have been researching on sexing them but haven't really got anywhere yet
