What's the best way to go about housing fish to get them to pair up? I have about 25 3" rt together in a 125. Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Let me be the first to say the hardest part won't be the pairing process... It will be the frustrating fertility checks! As far as the pairing process... Its best to just give them space and let them choose because when you start forcing what "you" want, fish might start getting killed. Just my experiences thuogh...

Cool. So just let them all together & hope I get fertile pair?

Its not that easy... Pairing them will not let you know if one or the other is fertile. Yes the female can lay sterile eggs and that's why they have to be tested with pure breeds. That's why the rt hobby is so frustrating. Well there's more like wanting faders, certain pearls, certain shapes blah blah blah... Then people just quit.

Out of 25, you may get 3 or 4 pairs that may simply divide the tank into territories.
Be ready to remove the others as pairs form.
And just to be safe, observe your 25 very closely, if you see any with defects, remove them right away so they don't fall into the pairing mix.
Defects often get more apparent with age, things such as an unnaturally curved spine, or jaws that don't line up.
In a group of 25 all may be perfect, or a few may may not.
Defects can be subtle or overt.
I picked up 20 Guianacara, all were perfect, I picked up 10 T. asfraci, half had deformities.
Here are a few overt defects.

I've been told how this involves a lot of patience. I know it's not that easy, I just figure getting a pair or two would be my first step. I have two seperat lines two work with. My plan is to breed siblings if I'm able to. I guess my question was if I should try to "force" a pair or just let a group form pairs on its own.
