Moving the overflow from the 18" tank to the 24" tank will not affect the performance. The only way to improve the performance is to build one for the 24" tank. The overflow is syphon powered, so to increase the power, you need to build it so that the inside bottom loop reaches to the bottom of the tank.
Seeing as I said in my post " Intake Pipe + Pipe to U Bend over the tank + Down Spout to Other U Bend to the T?" and assuming they read the whole thing, their response of "The 3 sides of the overflow BOX would be wrong. So more like the blind trying to read braille off the computer screen. If you will. As far as the input information I got from http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/drain.php?gph=1325&drain=Submit and read information from here http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126018&highlight=linear+overflow+size
Seeing how there were pictures of DIY Overflows and not Boxes I figured I was asking the right question.
Basically what it comes down to is... Does the U Bend in the tank have to be at the bottom to get the maximum output of the pipe size? If it reaches the maximum output in an 18" tank.. then why can't it put that much out in a 24" tank?
