LIner with white build up?

yeah i have very hard water the pump is a 2200g powerhead!

water hardness has nothing to do with the current being produced. water hardness refers to the amount of dissolved minerals present in your water. this usually usually consists of high levels of metal ions, mainly calcium and magnesium in the form of carbonates.

to bad about that one fish though.

i figured it was calcium build up along time ago i just thougt it would go away but when i first stared i ha clam water it still was there.

It seems like every time it comes back it makes my fishes harder to breath( they breath heavly)

i believe hardness is not what is causeing the heavy breathing. I believe it is comeing form the white build up.

Well, if your KH is high and water evaporates it leaves behind CaCO3 and since CaCO3 is only slightly soluable in water, it leaves a residue. Your GH is also probalbly high which will also cause a deposits to form.

Most fish like a slightly hard water, but too much dissolved minerals will not allow the proper D.O. content.

What did you clean the white stuff off with?

Will it dissolve with vinegar?

Fill a glass with the water (before you put it in the pond and let it evaporate to see if the same build up exists.

If it's mineral deposits, and gets back into the water, it will just dissolve and make you water a little harder with the normally ensueing probs.

i had a new year party and i got most of it of before my freinds came over... to be able to see my pond. do you that that If i had a water purifier hook up would make it better to not leaving white stuff on my liner?
