Lionfish ?

thanks for the tankmate ideas, i want a scribbled rabbit but who knows... WHat would be a good idea for lighting?? i only want like featherdusters and mushrooms.. and soft corals that dont need too much light! c.p.'s?

Well for lighting the lionfish dont care for really bright lighting like Metal Halide anyways so if you go with just normal furoescents like 2 actinic tubes, and 2 6,500 K tubes you should be good to go for some mushrooms, and maybe a couple softies.

wow very nice, what lighting do you use? skimmer? corals? any pictures??

WOW! You have thouse fish in an awfully small tank man.

I understand that they are all small right now but they still would have a waste load much greater than that tank would be able to handle. What kind of skimmer are you running? You would have to upgrade to at least a 120 to be able to keep all thouse fish together with a sump and a really good skimmer. I would hate to see you spend more money on an upgrade and only need to upgrade again when they are all full size. What size tank are you planning on going with?

I'd love to see some photos of thouse bad boys.

Dwarf lions can be kept together. Maybe u would like to try some fuzzy and dwarf zebra lion. Fu man chu is harder to keep coz it is hard to convert its diet away from live foods.

Main tihng bout keeping lion is to provide rock and caves for hiding. Unless u plan to keep volitan which are open swimmers.

Lightning should not be too strong, lion dun really love bight condition.

For a 55 gal tank. keeping 3-5 dwarf species is ok. But filtration must be good to cather the high bioload of lions.

Keeping lion can be tricky if u don't want to feed live food. I suggest feeding live ghost shrimp as a start. Slowy change to dead frozen ghost shrimp. Overtime, i believe the lion will accept frozen dead meat. But its better to use meat from salt water fishes or prawn.
p.s. cen try to feed the ghost shrimp with marine pallet before feeding them to lion.

Never overfeed lion fishes. They don't care if they are full or not. U throw in food they will eat. I have lost 2 lions bcoz of this. So feed what u think ur lion can take. Personally i practice feeding every 2-3 days.

Lastly. lion do well with any fishes that is too big for it to swallow. Keep this in mind and i would say u can com lions with almost anything fishes. But this dun apply to marine shrimp...

dude you dont need really strong light for just shrooms and softies. get something like a 3 strip flourescent fixture and put 2 10000k bulbs and an actinic. youll have good luck with just that and you wont have to spend too much cash.
