Hello. I was wondering if someone could tell me why my Cichlid's lip's are turning white? Thank you.

pics didn't show up.....try again "Upload File", -----> (select photo), "Open"-------> "Full image", ------>"Save/Post reply"

Probably get more responses in "SA/CA Cichlid sub-forum", much more traffic

I can't be sure on that one, but i'm willing to bet it's probably a result of chewing algae off of rocks or décor.....do you ever notice him grazing? I can't tell the species, Africans aren't my specialty but it looks like one of the Malawi herbivores. Could also just be from growth and/or age...a lot of fish randomly "peel" or "morph" and whatnot - might just simply be getting it's adult coloration.

Hello. Hope your doing well Eric. I noticed another Cichlid chasing him. I don't know whats going on. They have been together for 6 month's and this has never happened. I appreciate your help. What fish do you have?

i'm doing pretty well, thnx how are you? lol what fish do I have? haha currently 41 SA/CA cichlids, 51 bottomfeeders and 500-600 fry atm, ....I can list the species if u like, but may take a bit lol

Uhm so let's start w/ what kind and how many fish are in w/ your tank along w/ the blue guy? Tank size and filtration along w/ your WC-schedule would be helpful as well.

anyway, my fish collection :
2 Wolves, 2 Jaguars, 2 Red Tiger, 1 Red Devil 1 Flowerhorn (supposedly Kamfa/Red Dragon) 2 Balzan's Mouthbrooder, 3 Green Terrors (rivulatus), 2 unkown "Acaras", 7 Jack Dempseys, 4 adult Convicts, 2 Pearl Cichlids, 1 Salvin's, 2 Firemouths, 2 Lowland/Green Texas, 1 Pike-cichlid, 1 Geophagus albalios (?), 3 Striped Raphael, 4 Spotted Raphael, 3 Bulldog Pleco, 1 Clown Pleco, 1 Gibbicep's Sailfin Pleco, 3 Rainbow Sharks (2 Albino 1 normal), 2 Redtail Sharks, 1 Black Shark, 1 Spotted Pimelodus, 1 Four-lined Pimelodus, 6 African Featherfin catfish, 6 Albino Green Corydoras, 6 Emerald Corydoras, 1 Peppered Corydoras, 1 Lima Shovelnose catfish, 2 Asian Bumblebee catfish, 1 Eclipse catfish, 1 albino Channel catfish, 2 Golden Chinese Algae-eaters, 1 Polypterus senegalensis, 2 Indian Mud Moray eels, 2 Tiger Barbs

All the fry are Convicts and Jewels. Jewels are just normal and the parent convicts were Heterozygous for Pink, so I got about half Pink Convict fry and the others are visual normal, but are 66% heterozygous for Pink. Won't be using the same parents if I breed again, just going to take a few of the Pinks and pair them with my other 2 females so I get a lot more Pink offspring than just half. Really not that interested in breeding more Convicts tbh, I have too many way-cooler species that would be worth a lot more to breed, so if it boils down to space, they won't be at the top of the list. The Red Tigers are the next project i'm really excited for

You have a lot of fish!!!!!! OMG!!!! How many tank's do you have? Thanks for telling me about them. I have Big Boy in the 125 gallon tank with 2 Penguin 350 filter's. One air stone. I do about a 70% water every week. My 55 gallon tank is a African Cichlid tank with a Lemon Lab, Yellow Jake,Venustus,Cobalt Blue Zebra,OC Peacock,Firefish Peacock, maingano, (I think) and a Bumble Bee (I think). It has 2 penguin 350 filter's on it and I do about a 70% water change every week. I was thinking about trading in my African Cichlid's for a Jack Dempsey. What size tank do you keep yours in?
