Liquid rubber or epoxy?

Is liquid rubber or epoxy better for large plywood aquariums?

Is liquid rubber or epoxy the better product for large plywood aquariums?
 
First problem with these type of polls is most people who will voice an opinion have most likely never done either and are just repeating opinions that they heard.

Second problem is you will get people like me who vote for the one that they used on their build. It's not really a fair opinion since we have never tried both products and compared them to each other directly.

However there are pros and cons to both options and I agree with the_deeb that is depends on the build.

THIS.

True I've never done a monster plywood build
but I build a lot. I 'thought' epoxy would be stronger
but have found that when used in tanks and filters and wet stuff
after a year and a half to two it begins to leak
and begins to leak might as well be completly fails IMHO

Fiberglass resin maybe a better choice if used along with fiberglass fabric for added strength. It is commonly use for building large preformed fish ponds. Therefore it should be safe. It is also more flexible. Epoxy are very brittle once cured. Not all epoxy are fish safe. Liquid rubber may sound like a good choice but my experience with it is not good. Once it start to peel, you can not just do a patch job. The old and new surface will not bond to each other. Even repainting the whole thing sometimes will not work. Fiberglass resin can be sand down to allow the new coat to bond much better. It is much cheaper in cost and just about any pigment can be added. As alway, do more research. These are only based on my experience with the material used in the past.

exactly, I'm using liquid rubber in my build and as such liquid rubber is what I chose, would be odd if I was using liquid rubber but recomended epoxy to everyone else.
 
the fiberglass resin is what my dad suggested, he use to build boats so he has a little bit of experience with it. he says that its hard to work with if you dont know what your doin
 
I have tried both.. and "liquid rubber" has succeeded where epoxied failed. But I don't believe that all liquid rubber products are the same as not all epoxies are the same.

But I can tout Sanitred as superior over PondArmor in cost, ease of use and chance of success.
