I've read lots of people soaking pellets in liquid vitamins to feed to their cichlids and other large fish, but I was curious if anyone was doing this with their rays or if this is a big no-no. I was considering soaking my fish fillets overnight before feeding them the next day. Just curious to see what people are doing and if anyone can weigh in on the subject.

Do you mean to say that you take multivitamins and crush them finely, and then mix it into your water!? Does anyone know if this works because I think it's pretty sweet.

No. That won't work for two reasons. One, vitamins quickly lose their effectiveness once dissolved in a solution. More importantly, freshwater fish do not absorb water in such a way as to allow dissolved vitamins to be ingested in any substantial way.

Much better to soak pellets or frozen foods in vitamins. The can also be injected into shrimp or krill with a hypodermic needle. However, I would not recommend this since it is difficult to determine appropriate dosages. The truth is, if your fish are taking pellets, and you're feeding a premium pellet, you probably don't need to worry about additional supplementation.

Thank you cchhcc. That's what I thought because fish do not absorb nutrients through the dermis seeing that that's not what it is designed for.

More correct to say, B1 is "inhaled" in and will reach the ray. Problem is soaking, once its done too long, your food just gets mushy and screws your water. Like said before, theres really no point in it, if you have a good diet, that should be sufficient enough. always remember KISS.
