I would love to see a (sticky?) or/and a compilation of (all) the coldwater fish available in this hobby that are not necessarily natives - so that if any of us, myself included, are thinking about doing a coldwater tank, it would be great to know what fish we can choose from.

Let's do one for both fresh, AND one for salt.

PLEASE let's avoid posting the same fish multiple times so we can keep it concise and organized - unless / until a sticky list can be made up.

Here are what come to mind at the moment:

FRESHWATER

Goldfishes
Perches
Carp
Largemouth Bass
Smallmouth Bass
Most sunfishes, if not all ?
Trouts and Salmons (Need chillers.)
Sturgeons (All ?)
Bullhead Cats and other Ictalurus (Channel, Blue, White, etc.)
Wels Catfish
True Gars, except for Cuban and Tropical
European/American Eels

SALTWATER

???

You are right. Somebody, QUICK - post a photo of a feeder goldfish!!! :)

I used to catch Sea Robins as a kid (fishing) - forgot about them - good call!

I think we should do like Oddball did. This would be a great sticky if it contained a photo (optional), but also temperature ranges the fish can handle.

Agreed on the photo , and temp ranges. Oddball - can we make this a sticky (without duplicates?)

If we can do this - I'll happily start us off, after your Sea Robins.

What about the Darter family, aren't they cold water as well? (Rainbow Darters and such, found in streams and rivers in NA)

My favorite cold water predator has to be the sort fin/long fin eel(Anguilla dieffenbachii). There were some 3+ foot individuals in the stream where I used to live that were tame enough to hand feed, they were awesome.

Not my picture, but I don't have any good ones of them.
