I feed my piranhas Hikari Gold carnivore pellets, catfish fillet, shell on shrimp with tail removed, basically most white fleshed fish is ok, provided it has not additives. Never feed your piranhas processed or cooked meats!! Fish based diets are best. For cheap frozen fish hit up your local asian grocery.

A long time ago when I had my first Red Bellies, I came home from work and saw something brown and nasty looking in the tank. I asked my cousin, "What is this stuff in the tank??" She laughed and told me they were fried chicken livers from KFC that she had tried to feed them!! She thought it was funny, I DID NOT! I hit the roof! Of course the fish wanted nothing to do with it, but still.....
i had come home to bottle caps in the tank, beer labels pasted on the side of the tank. and one night a party with a damn strobe light, which TOTALLY freaked out the piranhas, but the fried chicken livers was the last straw. I made it extremely clear that from that point on if anything happened to my fish while I was gone, somebody's ass was getting kicked. I was serious, everyone knew it, and the fish were never messed with again. But yeah, anyway, cooked meat is bad, m'kay?
