List of Fish for a 180G!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah thats the fish.
I wouldnt worry about a lion eating a tang (a big one) at all. The thought wouldnt even come into my head.

Yep that's the one I meant as well! So these babies get huge do they?

about 1' 8" to 2' i think.

18-20"? Hmm, how long will it take under normal circumstances, if kept healthy and feed normally? 'Cause I'm now reconsidering what I want in my tank. With an eel and a volitan, it really limits to other fisht that I want, but those two are my favourite fish at the moment. I'll considering just getting a dwarf zebra lion and scrap the eel so I can make space for other, more "community" fish.

It will take awhile. Ide say it would be at 12" in a year or so. 18"+ might take a few years 5-10 even i dont really know.
What smaller fish did you wanna keep??
If we know what size small fish you want its easier to work out what preds you could keep.
Small things like blennies and gobies 2-3" i wouldnt even risk a dwarf lion.
Medium things like dottybacks, dwarf angels, smaller wrasses, clowns 3-5" you could get a dwarf lion, and hinds or hamlets instead or groupers.
Bigger species like big wrasses, angels, tangs, rabbitfish 6-9" you have heaps of options.
You just need to narrow it down.

As much as the bigger things are really cool i would go the medium fish if it where my tank.
Then you can have alot more natural looking setup with some small fish included while still having some cool looking preds in it. Ide even risk big shrimp (coral banded or scarlet cleaner) in there if it where my tank but it would def be a risk.
Plus if you ever want to you would possibly be able to add some easy corals if your water was good will will be alot easier with the small fish.

I think he meant "few" but anyway...
These are some really nice suggestions there Chris, thanks for your patience man, I'll look into it! I might start off with a couple of small fishes, and then decide how much I want a volitan and a snowflake. :headbang2
