Amen.

Many of the fish listed above could be kept by a responsible person, given the funds, resources, and dedication.

Makes me think of the lady in Walmart buying a bag full of pacu's that she was adding to her tank already stocked with pacu's. She didn't have the funds to fix the teeth in her head, although she was able to scratch up the dough for the gold tooth.:screwy:

there is the odd person who is fortunate enough to house the monsters like the rtc tsn gigas, if your going on "in the wild" then you are limiting a lot of species. What about alligator gars?
id sharks, tarpons, lungs, rays, even some channa sp. get huge...

as I said, most of these fish grow massive, but there is no up roar about conditioning them to a smaller size.
Oddball always puts good points up. the only thing you can do is RESEARCH.

Conditioning them to a smaller size? You mean like chopping them in half? (Just kidding, couldn't resist.) Do you mean like selective breeding or somethng like that?

And what about stores that shouldn't be in the hobby...like Walmart or petco :nilly:

i think it depends on who the "fish keepers" are at these big stores. The lady I spoke to at Walmart told me her hands are tied because she is not authorized to make changes to the fish list, and fish keep. The routine is written in black in white on how to "care" for the fish. Most of the "keepers" have no experience in fish keeping therefore could not recognized the difference between sick fish, and dead fish. but i think this part of their business is very low in priority. it's what bring in the green paper and such that has the Corporates attention...this is my favorite. "Nothing personal, it's strictly business".

I saw a grouper at Petco today.
