List your "Jurassic" Fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think I found out what was given to me as a "marbled sleeper" a south american wolf fish, does not have the wattles but size and temperment match. Does anybody know anything about these ugly *****?

theyre very similar to big sleepers in most respects; big (well, some species are only 8", but others can get 4 feet) inactive ambush predators. They have formidable teeth. The common wolf H. malabricus is the most widely available specie, it gets about 20" and is pictured below.

the two fish in these pics were both about 10" at the time.

they look cool, but like gobies their inactivity deters me from ever wanting to keep them, myself

here's the largest specie

These don't have the mottling or the skin folds mine did but shape, fins, and mouth look right. They eat everything.

Here are the Jurassic fishes I can remeber having in the tanks:

1 Black Aro
3 African Aros
1 Leichardti Aros
1 Arapaima
3 Clown Knives
2 Royal Clown Knives
1 Australian Lungfish
Many Mormyrid species and interested in all of them.
1 Rope fish
1 Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri
1 Polypterus endlicgeri congicus
1 Polypterus buettikoferi
1 Polypterus palmas polli
2 Polypterus retropinnis
2 Polypterus senegalus (1 normal and 1 albino)
1 Polypterus orntaipinnis
1 Polypterus weeksi
1 Polypterus lapradei
1 Polypterus delhezi
2 Longnose gar
2 Shortnose gar
1 Tropical gar
1 Cuban gar

I think that's all for now. More "jurassic fishes" will arrive soon and I'll try to update the post as needed.
