Litter number 5, 3 pups

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These guys are less than a week old and tearing up anchovies/smelt.. Normally i keep them stuffed on worms when born and they just nibble for a few weeks, these guys are eating smelt/anchovies like crazy!

Pups will be 2 weeks tomorrow, they are all going to new home next week, thought i would give 1 more update...

Check out the first male's spots.. one of the best i have had.

2nd picture is the only female.

Could you give details as to how you feeding the smelt?

I am trying to train my motoros to eat something other than blackworms. It is getting rather annoying and costly.

once they are ruined and eat BLK worms it is a little more tricky sometimes.

I would soak small pieces of smelt in the black worms and try cutting up the smelt very very small, feed the smelt without the blk worms

That is disappointing to hear. Had I know that blackworms would be a bad idea, I would have never fed it to them. I will try out your method/suggestion.

Thank you!

BTW - I was so caught up in the feeding Q that I forgot to mention that your male pattern looks fantastic!

black worms are a good way to get a stubborn ray to eat but, if you don't need to i would not. Usually i get my pups on earthworms cut real small, and then slowly get them to eat smelt or shrimp. These i started them off on smelt and presto, they took it.!
