Hi everyone, I've been lurking/reading for a while, but now it's time for a question. I also want to say, this is an AWESOME site, I've learned so much from it!

Ok, now for the question;

I found a lonely little CK at my LFS the other day. He/she was all alone and *woohoo* on sale. It's only about 2 1/2" and I'm in love with this future monster.

My question is, exactly what should I be offering for food. I've been doing bloodworms and krill and so far it's eating them (from what I can see) I also drop in some mini pellets and hopefully it's eating those too.

I just want to make sure I'm giving it the proper foods it needs to thrive and be happy. I've tried google-ing "juvenile clown knife" and I don't come up with too much info, except for stuff on larger CK's.

congradulations on your new Ck.. I have only had my little guy about 2 months and i just love him for his personality.. he now eats right out of my fingers.. these guys grow fast.. sounds like you are doing great with yours.. just try to get him to eat alot of different foods to vary his doet..shrimp pellets, algae wafers, cichlid pellets, frozen krill and frozen silversides are all the things mine eats.. just as long as yours is eating the rest will be easy ..good luck !;) And welcome to MFK!

My knife eats mostly like you said. Bloodworms and some krill. Also I add live black worms on occasion.

how fast do they grow? i know that they get huge but i'm redoing a 75 pretty soon and wondering how long i could keep on in there if it do.

I know i bought mine two months ago and it was about 5 inches ..it is close to 10 inches now and thicker too.. so they put those inches on quick .. i do not know if this is the rate of growth or if they slow down and speed up etc.. all i know is mine loves to eat and it shows..

Thanks for the fast answers!

I'm glad that I'm feeding him the right stuff. He's so little that I was worried about him getting certain things into his mouth, but after lights out tonight I saw him going after the krill so at least I know he's eating.

I can't wait for mine to get bigger!

oh belive me. fish have HUGE mouths!

Keep feeding it what you're feeding it. CKs at that size love bloodworms. Best thing to do is feed it non live food. The occassional "treat" is okay.

I definitely try to stray away from all live foods with all of my fish (at this time I have 2 oscars and a common pleco...well, and the CK). They really don't do much nutrition wise, and my luck I'd get some nasty disease from the feeders in one of my tanks. Either that or I'd get a stubborn fish that decided to refuse all non-live foods.

They all get pellets, algae wafers, freeze dried goodies and the pleco gets a variety of fruits and vegetables (unfortunately the oscars refuse to eat anything like that), and they seem to all be doing great on that particular diet. The only live things I sometimes do is crickets, and that's only if my oscars have been super good...which is pretty much never :).
