took my 5 year old daughter to the fair last night and on one og the games she won 2 small fancy tail goldfish, she was so happy and pround of them, we took them home then made a trip to wally world to get a tank for her new fish. we got a 1.5 gallon kit with light and filter, got home got it set up and got her fish in it, she sat there for 30 minutes watching them swim and wanted to get more fish, i told her when they out grow the tank we will move them to a bigger one and get her some more fish. she named the fish Wilbert and Gilbert. just thought I'd share my little monster fish keeper in the making.

that is awesome man, my little girl tries to feed her little american flag fish EVERYTHING! That includes baby diaper rash cream...........

I hope you have better luck than the fair fish I got as a kid. Only lasted a day or two.

Great to hear about the future fish keeper, trying to do the same with my little girl.

Pshhh goldfish.
Put a RTC in that tank.

She'll have way more fun watching a catfish turn belly up after the ammonia spike.
Haha that would be a horrible first fish keeper experience.
Good luck with them!

wilbert and gilbert are still alive and well on day 3.....my daughter will sit there while she eating and watch them eat at the same time she says they are having dinner together..lol...ill post up some updated pics in a few weeks to see how they are doing.

I remember winning one of these back in the day, that thing would not die. It was probably 8 years old when it finally died. It tried to eat uncooked macaroni once, he was kept in the kitchen, he spit it out and reate it more then once before my mom could get it out

Being goldfish, they're going to need either a pond or at LEAST a 30 gallon tank, eventually

they are going to be moved to a 90 gallon tank eventually but will be moved to a 20 gallon next month. its gonna have to be done in steps cause i still have to build a stand for the 90.
