Water won't help or will help very minimally, the beneficial bacteria grow on surfaces. Substrate and filter media will help.

1.) Cool that your daughter got some goldfish from the fair and likes to watch them.

2.) You people are rediculous, the man posts about his daughter enjoying a goldfish from the fair and you bust him for not having a big enough tank for them.:screwy:

3.) You can't cycle a tank with with water from a cycled tank. Beneficial bacteria lives on surfaces i.e. filter media.

4.) My friends would bet me money to eat goldfish from the fair when I was a kid. I made good money over the summer months.

so i left out the part were i use the cartidges from the 55's filter SORRY!!! i know some of you are trying to help but its funny when i post up a question i get 100 views and no replys, i post up a statement or something and everyone throws in there 2 cents telling me what i should or need to do WTF!?!

Look, the goldfish dying in a tiny tank is bad news for everybody. Bad news for the goldfish, it died a tortuous death. Bad news for the daughter, gets upset. Bad news for the parent, has to handle upset daughter. I think trying to avert all 3 of those is the right thing to do.

you guys are right i think i should be banned forever for keeping 2-- 1" long goldfish in a 1.5 gallon tank for 3-4 weeks....i am a monster, a murderer and i have no business owning fish or trying to teach my daughter about them.

Wow, youre so overstocked and underfiltered. They need at least a 4000 gallon tank with a million times turnover rate for filtration along with 300% daily w/c's. Make sure to treat with prime and you'll be gold!
