i just picked up my new florida gar today and after putting him into his tank noticed a bunch of little gree nthings crawling on him. i have no idea what this could be. it almost looks like tons of tiny crabs. at first it looked like algea till some started crawling all over him. what is it and how can i get rid of it? will it effect tankmates? should i be taking the gar back to the lfs? idk what to do about it! help please!
thanx

Dude, it's just fish lice. Pick them off and make sure you don't see anymore. If they come back you might need meds, but usually removing them before they breed is the best way.

it doesnt really look like fish lice. like a bright green and big. ive seen fish lice before but not this close so mabe thats it idk. is there anything else it could be?

Fish lice can be green if they get algae on them. If it isn't the exact species known in the hobby, that's alright. A parasitic crustacean is a parasitic crustacean. Pick 'em off and fry 'em up.

thanx ur a big help! would petsmart or my lfs have what id need to kill any remaining in the tank or anything i need to order?
