If the photo is accurate I would say it's a hogchoker, they will (with a lot of luck and live food) grow to about 10" by the time they get to around 8" or so they will start to need marine water. Their life span can be increased by adding lots of calcium chloride to the tank and a little bit of salt but full marine water is really best. I raise them from larvae that still have eyes on opposite sides of their heads (about 1/2") to 10" adults by starting them out on live daphnia (live baby brine will work as well) live black worms are also a good idea. Baby live bearers are really not much of an option unless you have access to hundreds of tiny baby fish. Once they get to be several inches long they will take live earth worms. The one thing to remember is that hog chokers have very tiny mouths. They need appropriately sized live food in large amounts. Dead food will usually not be taken in sufficient quantity to allow them to grow and live long lives.
