just got 2, 4 in silver aros. i have 3, 2-3 in dempseys, in a 55gal tank. would there be any problem putting them together? I know they will get huge and they will not live their whole lives in this tank, but at their current size they will be eaten in the big tank. so for temporary will my aros and dempseys be ok together?

The dempsys could kill them at that size if they are bullies. If your JD's are fairly passive you might be able to get away with it. I wouldnt worry about the aro's killing the JD, as they will outgrow the tank before they are big enough.
There is only 1 way to find out, but be careful and keep a very close eye on them if you try it. Good luck and let us know how it goes

these are the three most cowardly dempseys i have ever seen, they hide from everything, they wait till i walk away to eat, i don't understand every dempsey i have ever owned has been a brute, but these guys are chicken-fish. i let the aros go, it's been a couple of hours and so far so good. i have never seen aros so small and i couldn't resist, there's also plenty of hiding places in that tank and lots of plants.

the dempseys could bully them as Aros are wimps at that size. but the Aros will quickly gain the size advantage. Ive seen my Aro Square off with my Mayan Cichlid an hold his own.
