little help please

ive had the gourmie for about a year now and hes not very big i don't think its a giant. the pacu ive had for about a month and half he has goten bigger thats for sure but i hope they well be ok for awhile. my 55 is built into the wall where you can only see the front glass, so when i put in the 260 i have to cut my wall and everything so id rather not do it twice altho i might just put the rays if i get them in it

the rays and pacus and pretty much those other fish will all outgrow that tank VERY quickly. You're overstepping your capabilities right now. Take a step back and look around more and learn before keeping these fish. If you can, return those pacu ASAP

agree that more research is needed, although disagree a ray (especially retics) will outgrow a 260 very quickly (pending dimensions they may not outgrow it at all). if you meant outgrow the 55 ignore all that i said cuz i agree completely

the tank measures to my knowleadge( Its 130 in the morning and im at work!!) 72x24x30 i think i was told it was a 260 and i know for a fact they well outgrow the 55 but i mean how long could a ray stay confortable in a 55

size wise it's a matter of species/size you buy it at.. but it's water quality that the 55 seems to come up a bit small (rays put off a lot of waste and need large amounts of water to dillute, and frequent water changes). if a ray is what you really want why not just wait until your big tank is up and ready? but even if you were to put a ray in your 55 all the other fish would have to go.

i have the pacus that well need the 260 and i have anouther 55 just not set up. i know that rays eat alot and the amonaia is and ph levels are detramental to them. i run a emperior 400 and a 350 magnum on my 55 now, and i plan a somthing different for the 260 not really sure the route in which to get yet. what size would a ray be confortable in for some time??

btw ive been doing some research for about 2 weeks now, i know i have a lot to learn still about them i just wanted someone with experiance in the subject. Oh and i know i am a horrible speller!!

My Pacu outgrew my 260 in about 5 years. By that point he was hitting the front and back to turn around so should have been moved into something bigger sooner. He is currently about 28" and in a 1500 gallon outdoor, heated pond. I've seen them get over 3' so I don't think even a 350 is big enough. I'm planning on increasing the size of the pond this summer partially because he needs more space.

Oh yea, they are affectionately known as "tank busters" for a reason. If you are going to keep them, I would look into getting an acrylic tank (craigslist is good for used ones).

well i like the idea of a plywood tank, its cheap and i can make it to the size i like, deff have a little research tho..

Otherwise, the Ps will attack each other unless kept in groups of at least 5

Is this your experience, or just something you heard? IME this statement of yours is untrue.
