from waht i ve read and heard 100% wild caught
Not 100% If i had to geuss i would say 97% the breeding pairs sell for about 10K the one i have is captive breed nothing special. BTW my lfs told me that so if anyone want to correct me go ahead

you know, if they are wild caught, it must be amazing that we manage to imitate their habitat in order to keep them surviving..i mean imagine a wild BGK in a tank...then imagine that tank before it had anything in it, just plain glass and gravel. then your already at a stage where it's housing BGK who have been in the wild. so weird how humans are successful in keeping wild fish and managing to make them live happily and for many years. kind of makes me wonder how we got here. all seems too good for it just to be down to evolution really...

Hello, Velvet...now that you have had your little BGK for a couple of days, what is he/she eating? I agree with others that frozen bloodworms is a good idea (try to thaw them out just a bit before you feed them and feed them in bits) and I would suggest that you vary the feeedings by CRUSHING some small cichlid pellets for him/her because down the road, you will want to use large pellets as a main food supply for your BGK.

Please keep us informed...we can all learn from your experience. :)

Here's what I feed mine:

Pet store bought: Sinking carnivore pellets, Algae tablets, Tetramin variety pellets, omega one shrimps pellets, Hbh Cichlid attack pellets
Frozen: Bloodworms, Beefheart, Ocean one marine, Brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp, Silverside, Krill(she doesn't like it too much)
Raw: Shirmp, Hamburg(rarely) Anchovies,
Live: Ghost shrimp, earthworms

Hi friends, the knife fish baby eats:
- brine shimp
- small portions of chicken liver
but him really loves frozen worms !!!
I will take some pics soon,

Thanks for your help !!!
