You should not have to replace any media except for say dirty filter pads. Do a good hot water flush and rinse then dose with dechlorinator. If your water has chlorine in it instead of chloramine then it has common bleach in it anyways so dechlorinator will neutralize your tap water and any remaining chlorine residue. Just dose heavy and let system run a few hours before putting anything back in it.

Yes the system will have to be cycled again but it is either that or enjoy the worms that have ruined your fish keeping experience.

well ive kept the ceramic rings and bioballs and carbon etc but have binned the floss wool media, got all the water out other than about 3mm at the bottom of the tank,.. no wat of me getting it out,... i rinsed it and drained it down to the last 3mm of water again, dumped some seachem prime in the 3mm of left over water,.... just waiting for a bit,... then gonna rig the filters back up with no floss,.. "until tomorrow when i can pick some up, il turn them off then pop them in tomorrow" but then refill the tank and double dose with prime and reheat up to temp etc, before adding the fish back in,...Fingers crossed.

Mmmmmmmm

Won't you need to totally recycle the tank as you killed all the good bacteria
