Little ornate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hope not! I had to take the bichirs out of the tank with my 13inch flowerhorn, he spazzed after getting a big tank upgrade. My curu was so bad towards my mala that I switched the mala and bichirs.

Just eyeballing I would put the oranate around 8 inches. Long way to go

I got a new ornate shortly before Easter this year. After spending a month or so in a fry box net, I let him loose in the aquarium, I was afraid the Senegal in the tank would eat him, but that never happened. Now the ornate has outpaced the senegal in growth and has reached about 6.5 inches in length. I was worried about adding rope fish to the tank, but so far it has been peaceful. Yesterday I added a juvi flowerhorn, we will see how things go from here.

Oh, and I do have another ornate, she is nearing the 16ish mark (difficult to measure as she runs and hides in a tube all day). Once the smaller ornate is of adequate size I will drop it in with big girl and see where it goes. I will definitely say that the ornate are a little more on the skittish side, so offering them a cave or length of pvc may be ideal for a healthy ornate. Senegal will swim around all day, and my lap and endli seem to be comfortable hiding in plants and driftwood, somewhat in the open. I may be alone in my observations though. Ornate really do become impressive fish though. I love my fire eel it comes out and swims and generally loves to interact with me, but whenever I get a quick view of my big ornate, it is just amazing. Great fish.
