My arowana has something pertruding right in front of his pectoral fin. He has had this for about a week now. When I first noticed, it was a little red but the redness has gone away but it is still there. I was wondering if this is just an injury and it will just heal on its own or is it some sort of parasite and needs attention. The fish is very healthy and eats like a pig. Will try to get pictures up later. Thank you.

Form reading Kriztu's thread, I believe it is an anchor worm. It is doing exactly what the post said. Just one question, isn't copper bad for arowanas or was is some other metal. I remember reading something about this. Any suggested brands of medications for this? Thank you.
not so much experience abt this. but read alot of stuff about curing this.
raise temp to 80% add aquarium salt(read instuctions as per dose) and melafix.
change 20% water every 2-3 days.
*note* take out activated carbons on filter if u have them.
Because they take medications on water.

i cant tell from those pics but if it looks like a red worm than it is an anchor worm i kill them with coppersafe i just use 2/3 the recomended dose for my aros
looks like anchor worm bro. there are many mild meds in the market specifically for this. they usually get in your tank from infected feeders. try to quarantine your feeders in a separate tank for a few days before you feed. if you notice some illness in your feeders, discard, do not risk it. is your aro a green?
Hightimez' advice is okey, try it too. the med in my other post is for heavier infestations. just remember to change water if your aro aint looking quite well from the med you have given. and dont forget the carbon too after treatment.... and dont let it sit in you filter for long

I think the fish had it when I bought it because i have never used feeders and none of the other fish have ever had them before. How long will it take to get rid of them completely? Is there anything I need to do after all of the medications are through? Thanks for all of the input.
