My local fish store dropped the ball two times for simple quotes for a tank bigger than my 210 gallon at the time. I really wanted to buy local on that and brand new so I wouldnt have any issues. I figure if I gave them a chance and they didnt get back to me that they didnt want my business. I ended up risking an online company and spent thousands and couldn’t be happier. My local store lost out by not following through.

I wouldn’t even trust a single store by me to even order a fish... thankfully l have Wet Spot within a two hour drive or shipping to me is only about $28

I'm jealous of your closeness to wetspot, although my LFS is currently building a 27,000 sqft store and I can't wait to see it

i wish i had more options around me. I have 1 quality store, 1 less than quality store, and a bunch of petsmart/petcos. But the quality store usually keeps the same stock and just about refuses to do special orders (also quite over priced). So i depend on quality online stores to get fish.

I understand not wanting to pay shipping......but it can be totally worth it! My LFS in town is not great. (This is coming from someone who used to work there). Even if they do have fish I want, 75% of the time they are unhealthy or sick.

Now I buy from Wetspot which is on the opposite side of the US from me. Sure I might pay a bit in shipping...but I've always gotten healthy, quality pieces.
