Do stingrays love these as much as live blackworms? Also, do I have to chop them up for a 5" motoro? I just ordered a pound online because they are much cheaper than getting live blackworms from the lfs

Yes, Rays love earthworms and nightcrawlers as part of their diet. They may not love them as much as blackworms, but they are an excellent source of nutrition. Smaller rays will have a hard time eating whole earthworms, but chopping them up in smaller peices might be necessary until they can stomach a whole one.

I use 'cricket forceps' that you can buy at PetCo for 2.99. I use them to pluck out nightcrawlers, which I will rinse and then dangle above the tank, and chop into 1/4's with scissors. I don't get my hands dirty in the process, and all I have to do is clean the utensils when I'm done.

how do you clean out the worms? I mean, if there is soil inside the soil, won't that be bad?

When I feed my guys worms the rays are still small enough that they rip them apart as they eat getting dirt all in my tank. In response I squeeze out the dirt before, kind of gross i guess but at least it keeps the tank clean. The red wigglers are small enough I do not have to do this because they swallow them whole.

I buy regular sized worms and red wigglers by the dozens and house them in styrofoam fish shipping boxes with 1/4 peat and the rest potting soil. I feed them some left over omega one cichlid pellets that brought the color out of my cichlids so I hope that "you are what you eat" applies here but I have no control to test against to see if it really helps bring out the colors in my rays.

Well that is my long post for the night.

you know....I might have to try feeding my worms fish food.....it is a good thought....dam worms eat whatever I put in there....why not fish food.....Good idea!

ive bought worms several times from McGavin and he even includes word feed with his worms ! My rays love those nightcrawlers... they really fatten up on it.
