It's still currently alive now some five years later, and it was at least a year old when I got it. I'm pretty sure that it's still laying eggs, too, so I expect it to live for at least a few more years.
There really isn't anything to worry about except for the fact that they can't fly or swim to save their life in comparison to most chickens.
